Rusty the Tin Tent gets George Clarke’s seal of approval
Wind, rain, mud and TV cameras, it wasn’t easy creating our amazing space, like all build projects things don’t always go to plan, but we kept going and it all came together in the end, hopefully the writing on the wall says it all!

Things are going well with the Tin Tent build, the cladding is going up and the sun is shining!
Something big has landed in our glamping field…
Our new addition to Barefoot Glamping has arrived, meet Rusty, half tin, half tent! Watch this space as we get to work creating our third luxury camping experience…
Blue skies, winter sunshine, the perfect day for a bit of land management…
We spent the weekend working outside in the glamping meadows building a rustic windbreak from branches cut from our very own little woods, and trying ever so hard to resist lying in the hammock which looked so inviting…
Today we planted a tree
Digging the hole was hard work with some very hard stony ground underneath the top soil, but after a bit of help with a pick-axe, shovel & fork we now we have a very happy tulip tree sitting in the glamp field with Hobie for company.
Woody & Hobie both have their own BBQ areas and today we planted some handy herbs…
Rosemary, sage and thyme, nice and handy when cooking on the BBQ.
Todays task is to turf the seating around the fire pit…
Getting our hands dirty, cutting turf, loading up the trailer, driving up to the fire pit, laying the turf, watering well, and the hopefully at the end of the day, a well earned surf!
The framework for the shower room and toilet goes up while beds, apple crates and even the kitchen sink are moved in ready for the final fix.
This week the tents are being transformed into tents like no other, with handmade beds and apple crate shelving and of course a kitchen sink. Just need to add the luxury mattresses, duvets, pillows, ooooh, when can I move in.
It’s been a long hard week, rain, sweat and tears, but a happy ending with both tents up without a hitch.
The boys from Albion Canvas made it look very easy, hoisting the fly sheet up, tensioning the poles, climbing on the top to secure the fastenings, hanging the inner tent, bolting all the sides to the wooden deck. Thank you Pete and crew, for all your hard work and patience with the reschedule due to the weather not playing ball. And a special thanks to Rose for stitching the canvas to make our tents.
The rain stopped, the sun came out, the tent went up…
Yesterday I took a day off, left the men working hard in the field finishing the final prep work on the wooden decks and went to the south coast. Came back to a ‘wow’ moment, the sun shining and one of the huge safari tents up! If that’s what happens then I should definately go out more!! Second tent goes up on Friday.
